To The Lost Smiles: There Is Hope To Brighten up a Room Again

Only A Circumstance

Amy made a life-altering decision when she walked into a consultation at Doctors Implants. She was at first hesitant that full mouth dental implants could not restore the smile she used to see in the mirror.  “I am never going to have me again, it’s never going to be Amy”, she worried. The minute the mirror was handed to her she saw herself again, after her 6 Hour Smile,  “Everything was exactly the same if not better”.

Amy was known as a pageant girl, strong government representative, and the smile that would light up a room. She remembers her boss telling her one of the reasons she was hired was because she had one of the best smiles they had ever seen. She was very outgoing and confident, but felt these descriptions were no longer a part of her and only someone she used to know.

Amy had struggled with unpleasant experiences when it came to her teeth. She grew up on a ranch as a country kid where the well water had poor quality and no fluoride. This was the start of the deterioration of her teeth.

Later, she was diagnosed with cancer and in addition to this being a very difficult time in her life, the treatment she had to undergo increased her dental decline.

After overcoming cancer years later, she felt she needed a restart in life, a new beginning.

She began her journey with “patch work dentistry” getting single implants and temporary fixes which led her to feel embarrassed of her smile, this was not the solution she was looking for.

Her husband Will was a great factor in her journey. Will was in the military for 33 years and was so appreciative of his wife for supporting him throughout his active duty. Now that he is retired, he wanted to find a way to give back and support her in this next stage of her life.

“The accolades are always for the servicemen, not a lot of people see the woman or man in the background”, Amy states. Her husband recognized the sacrifices his wife had to make and asked, “What can I do to make things better?” to which Amy responded, “I want to be me again.”

It Starts With A Call

Amy was flipping through channels and came across a Doctors Implants commercial. She disregarded this at first, but during the month that went by the thought of dental implants was lingering. She would see her granddaughter mimic her and place her hand over her face to hide her smile and knew this was affecting her as well.

The commercial had impacted her and while self reflecting realized this was something she wanted to look into. She states her hesitation, “I was too afraid of being let down, so many people promise different things in commercials and real life and you end up getting let down in the process”, despite her fears she decided to give Doctors Implants a chance and schedule her free consultation.

The minute she came in she was greeted with kindness and genuinely. She states, “I have been to other dentists that did treatment plans but they were so arduous, at Doctors Implants it felt like I was just coming in to talk”. She saw this was a quality company and was confident to put her trust in our doctors. She was ready to start her smile journey.

It Ends with a Smile

After surgery her husband was in the recovery room and before she was handed a mirror he was able to see her for the first time. She saw him shed a tear, “a military man for 33 years, hard as a rock, who never cries”, shed a tear. She knew then and there the process was worth it, “his wife was back”. When it came her turn, she was overcome with emotion, “I was back, it’s me again”

Amy has since gone back to school and is excited to obtain another degree. Her and her husband are looking into buying land and becoming certified in equine therapy. They believe this would be a great way to give back, especially to first responders and the military community.

“You will be 100% you when you walk in and 100% you when you walk out. What they promise they deliver every time.”
