How Many Visits Does It Take For Full Mouth Dental Implants?

Dental implants are the gold standard in tooth replacement. Mimicking the structure of the human tooth and fusing with the jawbone, they look, feel, and function more like natural teeth than any other option.

That being said, many patients recognize the numerous benefits that dental implants have to offer yet still remain hesitant about committing to them.

Why?

One of the primary reasons is that dental implants have a reputation for involving a lengthy treatment process. While it’s true that traditional dental implants typically require multiple procedures over a several-month period, Doctors Implants’ proprietary same-day full mouth dental implant procedure streamlines this timeframe with implants and prosthetic teeth expertly installed in a single 6-hour appointment.

Below, we’ve provided a general overview of the standard dental implant procedure timeline and contrasted it with the condensed timeline we’re proud to offer our patients at Doctors Implants. Contact us directly today to schedule a complimentary Doctors Consultation and learn more!

Typical Dental Implant Procedure Timeline

No two dental implant processes are identical and the length of time required can vary according to a range of factors including the health of the patient and the complexity of the case. On average, a standard dental implant procedure takes anywhere from 3 to 9 months (sometimes longer) and requires multiple surgeries and appointments within that timeframe. Let’s take a closer look:

Initial Consultation And Evaluation

The initial consultation and evaluation represent an opportunity to discuss treatment goals, options, and expectations with your dentist or doctor. Images will be taken of your jaw and a treatment plan developed. Depending on the situation, one or both of the following procedures may be required prior to implant placement:

  • Bone graft (3 to 6 months recovery time required)
  • Tooth extraction (approximately 10 days recovery required)

Dental Implant Surgery To Install The Abutments/Dental Screws

After failing teeth have been extracted and the jaw adequately prepared, dental implants will be placed directly into the jawbone:

  • A suture removal appointment may be required (1 to 2 weeks following implant placement).
  • Next, a waiting period of 3 to 6 months is required for the implants to fuse with the jawbone—a process known as osseointegration. One or more check-in appointments may be necessary during this period.

Once osseointegration is established, abutments (connective hardware that sits above the gumline) are placed with temporary crowns.

Crown Installation

The installation of final teeth typically occurs about 2 weeks after abutments are placed.
